STUDENT INFORMATION
1. The Solo and Ensemble Festival will be held at Mt Hebron High School
2. All events are 10 minutes. Please report to your performance room at least 5 minutes prior to your scheduled time. Do not enter the room until the adjudicator invites you.
3. All soloists must know the chromatic scale and major scales up to 4 sharps and 4 flats. If you are performing for “Comments Only”, you will have the option of performing scales. What are "comments only?"
4. Students must provide an original copy of the music to the adjudicator. Failure to provide an original copy of music for the adjudicator will result in a penalty of one rating lower. All measures must be numbered in the student copy and the adjudicator’s copy.
5. Please advise your accompanist that the pianos will be electronic, digital keyboards.
6. Please do not play your instrument, or talk in the hallways. You may listen to performances with the permission of the performer.
7. The Rating Form and Certificate may be picked up approximately 30 minutes after your performance at Festival Center (the cafeteria).
8. If you have any questions on the day of the festival, you may ask Your instrumental music teacher; or Mr. Winters, Festival Coordinator.
9. In the case of inclement weather, if a snow emergency plan is in effect before 7:00 AM, the festival will be postponed until the following Saturday. If a snow emergency plan goes into effect after 7:00 AM, the festival will be held as scheduled. If you would like to verify the snow emergency plan, you may call (410) 313-6827.
Students should practice the Solo and Ensemble music daily. After learning the music, soloists should practice with their accompanist several times, and students in ensembles should practice together as often as possible.
